this is the extremely limited historic set that commemorates the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 with a 1:48 scale desktop model, 2019 U.S. silver dollar, and a rare, genuine piece of Kapton foil. Rising from a wooden 10" L x 5 3/4" W base, the hand-crafted and painted resin model of the Apollo Command Module and Lunar Module can be displayed docked—as they would have appeared in Lunar orbit—or separated into two different models to experience the lunar landing as it occurred. Presented in a black laquered case, a genuine fragment (appox. 3/8” sq.) of golden Kapton foil used as thermal protection on the Lunar Module’s descent is sealed in an acrylic case and literally allows you to hold history in your hands. The model base’s plaque is hand-signed by former Grumman Lead Technician Lee R. Brandt, who removed a piece of foil from the spacecraft during a valve repair prior to the July 16, 1969 milestone launch. The curved, Proof finish commemorative U.S. Mint coin has a 99.9% silver content and bears the Lunar footprint of Neil Armstrong on the obverse and the iconic image of Buzz Aldrin on the Moon on the reverse. Only 75 silver dollar edition sets are available, no additional sets will be produced.
